Aperture No. 257

The quarterly magazine of New York-based photography foundation of the same name, Aperture is the flagship representation of their commitment to contemporary photography. 

Issue #257 contrasts honest documentary photography, from Tina Barney's world of Americana to Steven Cuffie's images of Black life in Baltimore, with the split opinions on Artificial Intelligence being the biggest paradigm shift within recent photography. Artists, such as Trevor Paglen and Minne Atairu, are featured showing their beneficial use of AI to create synthetic, informational masterpieces whilst Fred Ritchin discusses how this technology is taking us away from capturing the human perspective of the world around us; making us feel disconnected to global events.
